- Became a registered Charity

- Moved to present location on Railway Avenue

- Purchase of large Marathon baler
- Telephone book recycling with BC Tel
- Adopted Hubley family for waste reduction strategies

- Paint Depot began with BC Paint Care Association
- First River Day Cleanup
- New sign at Third Avenue from the District of Kitimat
- Christmas Tree chipping with Kitimat-Stikine Regional District

- Composting project with summer student Gagan Leekha
- Christmas Reuse tree at Alcan Community Office

- First Seed & Plant Exchange
- KUTE received “Most Successful Clean-Up” award from the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC

- Seed & Plant Exchange with the Kitimat Community Garden Society
- President Barbara Hall received 1999 Minister’s Environmental Award in the Individual Citizen category from the Minister of Environment, Lands & Parks
